What do you think of piercings?

I was engaged in a discussion with my folks some while ago on why people of recent just copy things or trends just to belong and extra piercings came up. The heart of the discussion was that we (my folks and i) get irritated by the sight of unnecessary piercings so to say—and I guess we aren’t the only ones. One of us came up with the opinion that we don’t know why they do it or if their line of profession encourages that (not so valid), with the example of video vixens, models and such. It was also mentioned that friends or people around may be influence them but in my view, only people who do not know what they want succumb to such. The other came up with the view that people-esp. ladies- have multiple piercings and they then say they are looking for life partner (not judging though) because he sees it as a turn off. My humble self was taking no sides, I realized that some people have extra piercings because of damages to the former ones and for guys I just do not know. I feel one’s outward appearance determines if people will even want to know your character and what people perceive of you before you even utter a word. So people may think of people with piercings as irresponsible people. All thanks to whoever ignited this discussion and I do not appreciate piercings (would know that if you read this article closely).

Virtually all of us(teenagers) have Facebook accounts, even though IG and snapchat are slowly taking over I’m sure we still have memories about the times we used Facebook (if you no longer use it). One memory that might be hard to forget are the kind of friends on your friends’ list either then or now. I have taken the effort to remind you and open the eyes of those still using FB to the kind of FB friends one could possibly have. Enjoy reading and please be kind enough to remind me of the category I possibly forgot.
  • The passive: they never like or comment on your post and that gets me wondering how they got to the friends list (even though I am really guilty of that).

  • The gamer: this group of friends can send game invites for Africa.

  • The event followers: from awards to concerts and even not so publicized shows, how do they manage to know all these?

  • The once-in-a-while status update guy/girl: they only post during festivities and other circumstances- pretty sure their updates barely reach 10 per year- and then profile picture update is once in a "thousand years".
  • The picture friend: with this set of friends, a day of 24 hours turns to a day of over 24 pictures [pardon my exaggeration ;-)]. Looking for a forgotten post on such a timeline is just stressful cos you have to pass through lots and lots of pictures.

  • The link friend: most of the updates of this set of people are from sites that have their permission to post on their FB page.

  • The hourly update friend: you can literally track such people’s schedules- if the locations are true.

  • The inspirational friend: each post they make inspires you in a way and some wish they could take it down a bit.

  • The whiners: they use every opportunity they get to just get at you and this can be really annoying.(You are literally like this).Portrait of young woman holding cellphone in hands on the street in summer, looking at screen with irritated expression, made a mistake or annoyed by texts and calls - stock photo

  • The Facebook unfriendly friends: this could be those that come on another person's wall/thread and pick up a fight (real or fake it’s so not cool) or those that think writing on a wall is similar to a personal message-smh.

How to prepare for your final exams (SSCE)

 Image result for exam preparation

Preparing for exams in general can be stressful if not handled with care and wisdom. Ordinarily on approaching your SSS3 class you should have it in mind 6-7 months’ time you should commence your WAEC, and this information supposed to get you in the exam preparation mood already. Being that the exam considers stuffs that have been learnt since the beginning of Senior Secondary School it won’t make much sense starting one’s revision just a couple of weeks to the day the exams are said to start. We have accumulated some tips that we feel can make your preparations less stressful
  • Try to revise the things learnt in previous terms and levels on regular bases: for a majority of people, they find it easier to have things stuck in their brains when they do it over and over. Take for instance, you remember the lyrics of songs (either favourite or least favourite) because you get to hear and listen to them frequently, the same way it works when it comes to academics.

  • Get your mind tuned to the fact that your exams are fast approaching and start reading and revising from the summer of SS2: doing this will give you a longer time to read and digest the areas taught and one can also have extra time to touch things not done in previous years.

  • Get the syllabi for the exams you want to take: getting the syllabi really helps because you don’t have to read in circles so to say being that the areas that would be touched by the exams are given in the syllabi. The syllabus of different subjects can be seen on the net when the examination body releases them.

  • If your school makes you take mock exam, take them seriously: the mock exams somewhat prepare you for the main thing since they are based on past questions which you use when revising. GCE could also count as mock because it puts you in the necessary exam conditions (and please don’t subscribe for the alleged answers because they won’t help the experience positively).

  • Do the necessary readings and leave the extra revision to when the exams are in progress.

  • Create schedules for when to read and try to stick to it: I know that keeping to a schedule or timetable is not really easy but an effort goes a long way. Creating set times to study helps you concentrate more because you know that after the time, like a reward you can go and do something else. P.S be careful not to totally forget the things you have read or revised.

  • Study at the time that you think is the best: some people find it easier to grab what they are reading when everywhere is noisy or quiet or even at night or when no one is around it all depends on what you are comfortable with. If you like it quite, keep it a date with the library or go to school on weekends if possible. If you would rather read in groups, get a couple of like-minded people and you guys can discuss when and where to meet and ensure to follow through with the plan.
Doing a couple of these things would leave you thankful both during and after the exams that you did them because things would seem easier for you. Hope this proves helpful.
